Kwa Langa - Established in 1919, derived from King (Chief) Langalibalele - as a response to the Spanish Flu in 1918.


Gugs - Established in the 1960's, Igugu Lethu (Our Pride) due to land dispossession and segregation in South Africa.


Nyanga - Established in 1948, one of the oldest townships in Cape Town. It was established as a result of the then migration labour system.


Delft - Established in 1989 (District D) as an Integrated Service Land Project.


Mfuleni - Established in the late 1990's, the community is made up of a mix of cultures as most families were relocated from near-by townships due floods and fires.


Crossroads - Established in the 1970's, it was initially occupied by farm workers.


Culture - Established in 1985, iKhaya Elitsha (A New Home) - as a response to cater for the growing numbers of black people in Cape Town.
