Cape Cultural Collective Covid-19 (Corona Virus) Food Relief Initiative

Cape Cultural Collective

The Cape Cultural Collective (CCC) was formed out of a need for a progressive cultural space, back in 2007 but started taking shape in 2008 after migrating to the District Six Museum. The cultural space created was aimed at providing a platform for musicians and poets.

Today, CCC is run by a Steering Committee of individuals and groups that are involved in the Arts & Culture; hosting a series of exciting monthly cultural programs with music, poetry, dance and drama.

The CCC’s response to the current Covid-19 epidemic has been nothing short of amazing. Their initial idea was to raise R10 000 to deliver food relief packs to at least 30 families of their young choir members. Their call for contributions was heard loud and clear – as the response for this appeal raised R45 000 from over 50 donors.

Some of the townships that benefited from this great initiative are Gugulethu, Bishop Lavis and Manenberg.
